Novotel Brisbane South Bank

Spaciousness combined with modern, inviting surrounds, greet you in the bar/restaurant area of Novotel Brisbane South Bank.

Refreshing to see such a large area devoted to comfortable lounge style seating in front of the bar. Add to this the bar stools, and you know you’ve found the ideal space to enjoy a coffee, pre dinner drinks or just wile away some time.

Friendly staff help to make this home away from home experience even more enjoyable.Unfortunately on this occasion, we did not have the luxury of staying, this was merely a visit for a business function. Very lucky though to be given a tour of this fabulously fresh and new hotel.

Given the standard of the food we did try, combined with the atmosphere, delightful staff and overall feel of this venue, Dine Live Travel will be back.

A lot of thought went into the design and decoration of this new hotel. Only opened in May of this year, this particular Novotel has been based on a European design which embraces the local area. Here, the outside comes in.Given the handy location to South Bank and all amenities in this area, how cool to see rooms with the bed head area dominated by these incredibly real depictions of the local area!

Immerse yourself in the city of Brisbane, drifting off to sleep under the very real feeling, canopy of the South Bank Arbour. Or, perhaps your room will feature the Channel 7 Wheel of Brisbane.

What a nice surprise when you open the room door to see what delightful artwork is waiting to make you feel a part of this vibrant city. Looking forward to hearing what you think!

From standard hotel rooms to suites with their own lounge, there is plenty on offer for you to to overnight or take a well needed staycation. Some rooms face over the spacious greenery that is Musgrave Park, others towards Southbank and the city. Maybe you will be able to clearly see the real Wheel of Brisbane from your room.

Suites feature an inviting deep bath. Immerse yourself here, with bubbles and champers. Oh yes, can you feel it??

The on site restaurant Spice Central, gives you some pleasant dining options. Here you can choose table dining, or, perhaps you would like to interact with kitchen staff. In this case, choose the bar stools located around the open air kitchen. What a great way to become a part of your meal production process, without the work or the dishes!Highly suggest you pay this venue a visit. It really does tick those boxes. And for those looking to enjoy the many events on offer either at South Bank or in the city, then this location, will definitely suit your needs. Give it a test run, we are going back. Might see you there!

Wheel of Brisbane

Take a wander along Southbank before taking your ride on the Wheel of Brisbane.  Book online for some good deals prior, including the VIP cabin for four people. Enjoy the luxury of more comfortable seating nd tinted windows, whilst you wheel your way above Brisbane.

Unfortunately on thus occasion, the opportunity to enjoy a Bubbly in your VIP cabin was not possible as we were informed there were not enough staff to deliver the bubbles today.  Not deterred, we boarded our VIP cabin to take a view of Brisbane.

Even on a dull day with a storm rolling in, the view remained impressive. If you are seeking that little extra comfort, book the VIP cabin, very comfortable seating in this one.

You may only do this once, it was our first time and only because this was on a mates bucket list.

We would however, love to return at night, hopefully with bubbles!  Check this out, it’s definitely worth a look.

Next Door Kitchen & Bar – South Brisbane

You really are spoilt for choice in the Southbank/South Brisbane area.  We have visited a myriad of eateries in this precinct, some on numerous occasions.   However, this visit, we chose a new venue.  Next Door Kitchen & Bar.  The view from inside or outside the restaurant is eye-catching in itself.  Pops of colour along the Southbank walkway hang about in front of the city skyline.

Menu choice for breakfast, had enough to cover a variety of tastes, not an extensive menu, but enough.  One at our table chose the ‘Tommy Gun, It’s loaded’ meal, all the while declaring ‘I won’t eat the BlackPudding…’   Well apparently the black pudding was fine, nothing like he thought it would be.

I’m not usually too tempted with smoothies and juices, only because I do find they have a tendency to make me feel full and not enjoy an actual meal.  However, on this occasion, the celery, spinach, kale and cinnamon mix sounded different and tempting.  Let’s give it s go!  Quite refreshing, mainly tasting like celery and cinnamon.  Not too bad really, although, for my personal taste the cinnamon was a bit over powering. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy this, as I definitely did.

Staff here were friendly, attentive and happy to assist.   My choice of the Filled field mushroom was not ever going to disappoint. A delightfully presented and enjoyable dish.

Look forward to returning to this venue  in the future.  Perhaps we should be looking at an apartment in this area, hmmm, one would be spoilt for dining and activity choice!

Check out the scrambled egg & salmon dish below,  another delightful meal.    Keep up the good work…!

Che Asado & Bar – Southbank Brisbane

Sunday breakfast Argentinian style.  On this particular Sunday morning, we headed towards the Southbank  precinct in Brisbane..  Here we chose Che Asado for breakfast.  After all, who could resist the enthusiastic young staff member, offering us a table and coffee, as we stopped to check the menu.

A simple breakfast menu, which still contained an array of choice, leaving you pondering as to the best dish to try.   Hot drinks were ordered first, with hubby choosing to try the creamy Argentinian hot chocolate as suggested by the attentive young lady serving our table.

As a side note, I loved the look of the copper jugs used to fill the water glasses. The stitching on the covers around the sugar containers on the table, both were part of quirky little details within an overall modern setting.

I personally was happy to discover loose leaf tea on the menu, as opposed to tea bags.   Something to be honest, I do enjoy, as a lot of places we visit focus on coffee and stick to tea bags for those who enjoy tea rather than coffee.   Loose leaf tea is a winner in my book. Hubby chose the Pork Belly El Benedicto above, with an added side of hash browns.   No problem with this meal, it was a definite hit with him.   In saying that, so was the creamy hot chocolate hubby was talked into trying.  Not only creamy, it was also apparently hot.    Well appreciated on a cool morning. This delightful Omelet Gramajo above was my choice., along with a side of mushrooms.    To be fair, this was definitely one of the best omelettes I have eaten.   Most enjoyable.

There is definitely plenty of choice in the Southbank area, so be sure not to give this place a miss, it is definitely worth stopping at.   Judging by the flyers advertising the activities at Che Asado, it would not matter which day or time you decided to stop by.   Thinking we will be heading back to check some of these out…… Buen Apetito!
